Following is the summer school policy of Benilde-St. Margaret’s School. If, after having reviewed the policy, you have further questions, please contact a guidance counselor.
Credits earned during a summer school experience will not be placed on a student’s transcript. The exceptions to this rule are as follows:
- BSM approved summer enrichment courses - The only approved summer enrichment courses are: Concordia language camps, the BSM summer science program and BSM summer travel experiences.
- Summer courses taken to make up a failing grade – If students fail a required course, they are encouraged to make up the course during the school year at BSM in a full-year BSM course. If this is not possible, students must check with the department chair for approval before enrolling in a remedial summer program. If the department chair approves the summer school course, and the student passes the course, it will be placed on the back of the transcript. The grade will not be calculated into the student’s GPA, but the credit will be counted toward the student’s graduation requirements.
Students will not be allowed to take summer school courses in order to skip a level of study in the BSM curriculum.
