Three Wrestlers Went to State
For only the third time in BSM’s history, wrestlers competed at the state tournament. Three BSM wrestlers participated in the Class AA State Tournament, held March 4-6. Senior Justin Smith, with a record of 33-9, took on Lucas Meurer from Waseca (36-1) in the 135-pound weight class. Wrestling at 171 pounds, senior Kevin Commerford (29-9) challenged previous state medal-winner Mitch Vedders (42-0) of Milaca/Faith Christian. Senior Jason Anderson (23-5) was matched against Steven Jacobson (35-6), also of Milaca/Faith Christian, in the 215 weight class. Each of the three was defeated in the first round, and Kevin's first-round opponent went on to capture a title. Benilde alum Jerry Henk (’71) is the coach for the Red Knights. |
